GOATS

So we went and picked up our goat girls today. Our beautiful pregnant does. They look like dwarf deer, well Flora does anyway. They are very vocal in their new place and seem to be happy with all the green weeds they found in there.

Here are some photos:

The darker one is Bea Bea (aka Queen Bea)

And this is sweet Flora

Milking Parlor (sounds much more fancy than it is and bigger too!)

So we are all together now. Today is blustery and cold but they don't seem to mind too much. Both are due in April although early May might also happen. I put concrete pavers in the milking room because I wanted to be able to sweep it and level the floor somewhat without pouring a slab. Still need to add some shelves and a small shelf/table in the corner. The sliding barn doors are cool but the hardware was expensive and the slope made it more difficult to install. Many small issues came with not leveling the building site. I opted to save the $350 but it did give us some tricky bits. I also planted a fruiting mulberry in the middle of the yard for shade and some forage later. It is heavily protected.
